📌 Sticky: 19/11/24 -- Welcome to my site. o/
Hey, I'm Copi. I have a variety of interests. I like to code games and mod them too, and I'm half decent at it. I hope. I also design games, though the quality of them is dubious. And make graphics for them too.
A lot of my interests are related to games, actually. I'm practically a one-man dev team, but I don't actually know a thing about audio.
I also make art out of tiny squares, with a mouse and keyboard. I'll probably post some of my stuff on here somewhere some time. My style can be described as 'sketchy' and 'chicken scratches turned into a style', though I've branched out lately.
I have a passion for storytelling and literature, though I've gone quite a while without a good read over the past few years. I do make up for this with TTRPGs, which I spend too much time writing homebrew for. I might get into that on this site some time.
For the sake of brevity I'll do a rapid fire go over some of my other hobbies/interests:
- Cooking
- Tech Repair
- Robotics
- Camping
- Study
- MMA
- Looking at cat pictures
- Worldbuilding
As you can tell, this site is quite work in progress. Bear with me please, I intend to add different pages, some functionality, maybe achievements..? If I can, a music player would be cool too.
1/4/25 -- april fool
31/3/25 -- ALMOST april
You get this post 1 day early, so no, this isn't april fools, I actually remembered to post again!!
On the topic of april fools, fair mod will be getting a pretty major update for april fools, so if you like noita you might like that. Has a few things I really like, we added a silly bonzibuddy knockoff called copibuddy! Well, it was mostly eba's work, I just threw in some funny things and hooked it up to some other systems.
That aside, we somehow had snow here in the middle of the month which was really unexpected? But it was delightful. Now it's mostly just rain, which is alright I guess. Will be keeping the snow background on my site because I really like it though.
Let's see what else is on the docket for april... oh, Sephiria is going into early access on the 3rd, which is a fun game I've been playing the demo of. Neat concept with some cute art and proper multiplayer support, as opposed to the previous title Dungreed which I also enjoyed quite a bit.
Development on the prior mentioned game of mine is slow, still working out the design doc and such but I have some fun things in mind. Not ready to share details though.
But just as my bag of hi-chew has almost run out, it's getting late and the amount of words I have to write is also quite low. HOPEFULLY I'll have more to post this (coming) month.
Before I sign off, check this art my friend eba drew :3
1/3/25 -- March
Pondering making another game. It's been a while since the last one I've made and I've had a lot of ideas stewing in my head. Will post updates if I go through with it. Will likely be Godot using C++ as I plan to learn the language anyways. Oh yeah it's also march. Now actually past 1/6th of the year!!
Will be adding some proper backend to this site so it isn't all done manually since the way I handle this 'new post' thing is horrifying to me.
Also holy shit I have been absolutely hooked on hi-chew since last year. Grape might be my favourite flavor, I heard it's based on japanese grape flavor which is neat. I have a bit of a history with gum, having been hospitalized for over a whole night after having some get stuck to my throat, so having something I can actually chew on and swallow properly is nice. Hell I think that gum is still stuck in there?
Current goal: survive march
27/2/25 -- Feb part II
Funny I made that post recently.. half that stuff is no longer relevant!!
The snow is already almost melted away, and my Evolve save vanished :c
But things happen, the snow was never going to stay, and I'm not all too upset about the save file loss. I figured out some old problems and got some stuff done, and even if things don't go as planned, isn't what matters all that is ahead? What was an invested save file is now free time and mental space for more things to come, no more snow means the world hasn't ended yet
Keep a good mindset where it's due, it's not over until it's over, and when it is, there's always the next thing o7
Also a small tangent, but we really ought to appreciate friends and connections more. It's always been hard for me to show how much people matter to me but I've been thinking on it lately, if I weren't so socially awkward I'd have a bucketload of nice things to personally say to all of them many times over. Sometimes it's invisible work, but just having people you know aren't out to get you in this world which feels increasingly polarizing and tense is a relief. I feel as if I'm surrounded by some of the coolest people I could be around, and I'm super fucking grateful for it.
One thing I realized is the value of working together beyond its most utilitarian distillation of labor. An offer for someone to help you can be more than just a literal request for aid. It's bringing someone into the fold, trusting them with something and acknowledging their capabilities in it. It's mutually beneficial in a way only a social species could benefit from, a social contract for two people to distribute labor and collaborate to make something greater than what they could alone. I'm not saying to pester your friends and dump random busywork on them, but consider the rapport you have with others and if they might want a hand in something. Hell, be open with it and tell them you'd want to work on something with them, that is the stuff of friendship. Be there for each other and remember that life doesn't have to be a solo experience, it's always more fun with a friend.
24/2/25 -- Feb Checkin
Short post, here we go
It's almost the end of february!! The hell? That's like, close to 1/6th the way through the year already.
Seems like my wish for more snow has come true, since there is just an absurd amount of snow outside right now.
I don't think I've seen this much since I was a kid, I'm glad though since I absolutely love snow
Been playing a lot of Evolve Idle lately, super lovely and simple idle game without much in the way of graphics, with a shocking amount of content.
Started watching Ordinary Sausage, who makes actual war crimes out of food. Entertaining, short, and very (pun intended) digestible videos worth checking out.
Hopefully I'll have more to share and discuss going forwards, and the elusive sidebar will show up for once.
Keep your eyes peeled for Copith updates since I've been working on some fun new toys in there.
Oh! And before I forget, tiny rogues is still a very fun roguelike for which I've made a few contributions!!
31/12/24 -- Last post of the year
Hey! It's been a while. Mostly been busy and didn't have much to post about.
It'll be the new year in 3 hours over here, so I thought I'd say some things. Been planning an end of year post but in all honesty between procrastination and genuinely forgetting I've just, not done that
My friend conga made a post that I can't help but agree with, also actually reminded me to make this post so thanks for that :)
I'm writing this up quickly before I go to celebrate so I won't have the time to do my own reflecting and philosophizing, but I can offer some quick words of my own
2024 felt like it was just riding out the recovery period from covid, of which the emergency status ended last year, I haven't been around for many of these big world changing events but it's fascinating to have experienced this one. It's a tradgedy that it happened and all the people who passed to it is depressing, but I can't say the world hasn't changed for the better in some ways too. Less societal and professional pressure to be all buddy buddy with everyone and being there in person, I've always been more of an online sort of person and not having to have been dragged out to some other city for an appointment or having more opportunities to do things virtually has been nothing but good for me.
Looking back the year felt like a blur, not too many radical life changing things happened to me and I'm perfectly happy with that? A stable life without something coming from left field to mess it up for better or for worse is a rare thing in this day and age. Hoping for some good stuff next year but that's half on me to bring about for myself.
It's a shame I didn't get to order a pizza so I can crack that dumb "I've been waiting since last year!!" joke, but I think I've done the poor deliveryperson a favor for once not doing so.
Some personal highlights of this year,
- Working on the Noita Fair Mod
- Getting back into Warframe (holy shit this game is fun)
- Reconnecting with some old friends
- Getting back into playing/running D&D
- Modding more games, notably RoR2
- Finally reading homestuck
- Starting this site!!!
cool copi, deal with it
- yeah I write the fuckin lists I get to choose what goes on here
- Like 50 other things from earlier this year I can't be assed to go and find and catalogue
Well, it's almost 2 hours to 2025 now, spent a little too long pondering my post. Happy new years! Don't let life be good or bad to you this coming year, make it go the way you want.
I don't have any deeply awe inspiring closing words, so I'll do this the same way I usually do,
25/11/24 -- Subpixel Chicanery Pt.2
Ok, first off, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Subpixel_rendering check this out. Real actual application of subpixel stuff.
When you see this: , you probably can't tell it's secret text. Or maybe you can infer that, hey, I'm not omnipotent.
Basically, I managed to hide text into a colorful blob. Here it is a little more zoomed in, decoded, and photographed:
Pretty cool, right? Turns out someone beat me to this, so definitely check out their website.
I also did a little experiment with shrinking an image 3x while keeping detail, last image has a bit of filtering to help sell the illusion/make it clearer:
Pretty cool, right? Anyways I'm sure you're either super interested or utterly bored of this subpixel rambling, woe to you or to your benefit, that's all I think I have to say on the topic. It's cool tech. Expect less of this in the future, probably.
Also!! I added a link to my friend conga's site up above, this will be moved to a sidebar later. Definitely check out their site it's way better.
24/11/24 -- Experiments with sub-pixelry
Booyah, double site-update yeah I just did that, badass sunglasses copi
looks kinda dookie at that scale so I probably won't do that again. But anyways, I did something else cool. So apparently this person made a video about sub-pixel pixel art, using the individual color pixels in a monitor to add even more resolution at the cost of color. I haven't seen this video (though it's been pushed into my feed endlessly). Check it out here:
So anyways, I saw some person trying this out, making some neat little art with the tech. And I got curious. So, I messed around and did it myself. In this post I'll go through the process and how it turned out.
I started with the little mini-copi you might see dotted around this site:
What a lil guy. Anyways, I inverted the image so the border would be white, and the inside would be black. On a black background this loses a tiny bit of detail around the ahoge-thingamabob as I have some exposed inside-coloring, but that's not the focus here.
From there I scaled it up 3x so that I could add more detail to appear in the sub-pixels. And that I did.
Looks shoddy, but it's more of a test than anything. Notice how this has a "mixels" look with 3:1 resolution per pixel? That's exactly what this is. From there, I used a pattern brush to mark each red green and blue pixel. And then, I would "de-scale" it by filling each 3x3 region with the combined colors in the pixel, so a [011]
pixel region with green and blue would combine to a cyan pixel. I did this for each pixel until I had gone back to 1/3 scale.
But, the real magic happens when you bring this down to actual scale, with 1 image pixel being 1 screen pixel. With a camera you can capture the sub-pixels, and the illusion comes together:
Slow claps, I know I know, not super impressive. But, there's more detail than otherwise would be possible, using the same resolution! Text fonts do this same thing, it's effectively anti-aliasing done manually. And hey, I think the effect makes neat colors.
24/11/24 -- Added snow!!
Using a modified version of particles.js I've added snow to the site. The extents of my changes are removing a lot of unused functionality and gutting out all on-hover stuff to instead use the mouse position so it can fit snugly behind and not break.
Also, added a lil thingymabob you can use to link back here. Will move this to the eventual sidebar when I make it. Grab it here:

22/11/24 -- It's finally cold!
Small post, but there's no time of year I love more than now.
For some reason my room is always like ~7 degrees hotter than the rest of my house (you can feel the temperature difference walking in and out), so being able to just leave my window open and not feel like I'm inside an oven is just incredible.
Also means I might have to shovel snow soon. Insane to think not too many years ago there'd have been snow already over a month ago. Guess it's not just my room that's getting hotter all the time.
Also, working on a new noita mod. Another collaborative project, not on the scale of fair mod, but still exciting nonetheless. Might post updates related to that.
todo: add some way for people to vote/comment on posts. Not sure if people would care for micro-devlogs on it. Also a way to link to posts. I have some backend work to do.
